Freebies A NASCAR Fan Can Get

A NASCAR fan will cherish many items that represent NASCAR throughout the year but the items they cherish the most will be ones that did not cost them anything. A fan enjoys the freebies offered by NASCAR because they are provided as a token of appreciation and not centered on making a profit in any way. Most fans are unaware that freebies exist until they visit a friend's house and see them for themselves.

Most fans have established a haven in their home that is totally devoted to their favorite NASCAR team. They might make it a point to visit a certain retailer each year because they know that company is a NASCAR sponsor and is willing to provide fans with free tee shirts that bear the NASCAR emblem or the emblem of the sponsor. In one visit to these sponsors, fans know that they can walk out with tee shirts for the entire family.

Fans relish finding information about their favorite driver and racing team. NASCAR has put out a lot of effort to produce photo quality biographies of drivers that fans can print out on the home computer or transfer to a disk and take to a printer where it is printed out in full color. The cost of the printing is considerably less than if the fan had purchased the driver's history from a retailer at the racetrack. Some fans keep this information handy so that they can use it as backdrops for a shadow box that holds tickets to all the races the fan attended.

Fans do not have to rely on luck to get a photograph of their favorite NASCAR racing star. The internet is filled with numerous photographs that capture the racing action performed during a certain race and they come complete with captions already in place. A fan can select which photographs they want for their collection and save them to the appropriate file on their home computer. Of course, these photographs can never be sold but a true NASCAR fans will cherish having them to look at.

Many fans have been entertained for hours by the free games offered at the NASCAR website. Fans have the chance to become a part of the action by playing games, at no charge, that allow them to track their celebrity racing teams through sponsor events, and become a team owner by buying low priced teams and selling them for a profit. Some games allow fans to see what they can do with a racing team that they designed themselves. This type of fun is suitable for anyone that is a NASCAR fan.

Fans can also find a wide assortment of NASCAR freebie items that are centered on home entertainment but must own a home computer to obtain them all. There are many related screensavers that can be downloaded to the personal computer and changed out regularly throughout the racing season. Fans can get quite inspired by the scenes they view throughout the day and some might even help them to remember when the next race will be so that they can buy tickets before they are sold out.

OTHER: Peterhansel blames own mistakes

Peterhansel blames own mistakes By Matt Beer Sunday, January 16th 2011, 10:18 GMT Stephane Peterhansel says it was his own errors that caused him to fall away from the fight for Dakar Rally victory, after coming home only fourth in this year's event. X-Raid BMW driver Peterhansel, who has won the rally six times on a motorbike and three times in the car category, was battling for the lead with Volkswagen's Carlos Sainz and Nasser Al-Attiyah for the first week before hitting a string of problems. Repeated punctures proved particularly costly, but Peterhansel said things began to go wrong when he missed a way point on stage six and lost several minutes trying to get back on the course. Repaved Daytona Track Smooth and Bump-Free, Drivers Say

The freshly repaved track at Daytona International Speedway is smooth, has plenty of grip and plenty of room for racing, said NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers who participated in Wednesday's Goodyear tire tests at the track.

"They smoothed out all the bumps," said Dale Earnhardt Jr., the 2004 Daytona 500 champion. "The track is real smooth. It's got a lot of grip. The track reminds me a lot like Talladega was like when they first finished it.

"The racing during the drafting was exciting and I think it is going to be a good show, a more exciting show for the fans because the cars are going to stay real tight on each other throughout entire runs."

The speedway said 18 drivers took part in the tire test Wednesday -- the first day of a two-day Goodyear test to determine the proper tire compound for the 2.5-mile speedway's new racing surface before the 53rd annual Daytona 500 on Feb. 20. Drivers turned laps on the speedway in both single car and drafting sessions.

It was the first time race cars have been on the track at speed since the repaving job was completed earlier this month. From July to December, the entire track was repaved for only the second time since it was built and opened in 1959.

NASCAR Tickets - Jimmy Watts' Big Mistake

Jimmy Watts might just be the most famous NASCAR crew member of the year, but that doesn't necessarily mean good things for the crew team of Marcos Ambrose and his No. 47 stock car. Watts made national headlines last week after he chased a runaway tire onto the racetrack at the Atlanta Motor Speedway during the Kobalt Tools 500, shocking everyone with NASCAR tickets and violating one of the league's biggest rules while also causing NASCAR to throw out the third caution flag on lap 67 of the race. This huge error in judgment was undoubtedly an instant reaction (and a regrettable one, at that) by Watts, and this gasman will be forced to live with the consequences of his knee-jerk reaction for the rest of this racing season.

When Jimmy Watts went onto the racetrack at Atlanta, he violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 9-15-U (crew members cannot for any reason go onto the racetrack while cars or racing or running under the yellow or red flag, unless a NASCAR official directs the action) of NASCAR code, triggering a four-race suspension and a nine-month probationary period while also penalizing his crew chief, Frank Kerr. Kerr, the chief of Ambrose's No. 47 Toyota, also got slapped with a hefty fine and was placed on NASCAR probation until December 31 for violating Sections 12-1 and 9-4-A (crew chief assumes responsibility for his team members' actions).

Watts works as a fireman while he's not in the pit for Marcos Ambrose's team, and his automatic reaction to chase after the tire could be a result of his instinctive job and intense firefighting training. The gasman did offer an apology to NASCAR after the race, saying, "Everything happened so fast on pit road that I just didn't realize how far I had to go out until I grabbed the tire. I put myself in jeopardy and I know how hard NASCAR works to make the pit crew members safe on pit road. I stand by their decision and will serve my four-race suspension."

The caution flag that resulted from Watts stepping foot onto the racetrack at the Atlanta Motor Speedway may have had an effect on the race's outcome, as NASCAR officials would have waited for the green flag stops to cycle out before calling a caution had Watts not chased after the tire, keeping all the cars on pit sequence. Instead, however, the caution flag went up, and some of the Sprint Cup drivers are not pleased with the results. Matt Kenseth recently made a seething comment about the incident, saying, "Maybe he's new. Maybe he hasn't seen us drive, but we tend to wreck a lot. I wouldn't want to be out in the middle of the grass."

What's done is done, however, and Watts will have to come back from his four-race suspension at the end of April and prove that his talents outweigh his one big mistake. In the meantime, the racing will continue, and tickets to NASCAR races are always available online.

Mark Martin to Race in All Three NASCAR Series in 2011

Just when we thought Mark Martin might be winding up his long and storied career as a NASCAR driver, he's decided to jump back in with both feet in 2011 by running races in all three of NASCAR's national touring series.

In his final, lame-duck year with Hendrick Motorsports in the Sprint Cup series, Martin has decided to also run selected Nationwide series and Camping World Truck series events for Turner Motorsports.

Martin will drive the No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet in Nationwide races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Ca., Michigan International Speedway and Kentucky Speedway, with Trent Owens serving as his crew chief, the team announced Wednesday.

Martin will also drive the No. 32 Chevy Silverado truck in NASCAR Truck series races at Michigan as well as Pocono Raceway.

"I'm excited to be running back in the Nationwide and Truck Series again," said Martin. "Everyone at Dollar General and Turner Motorsports has been great and I'm looking forward to hitting the track with them next year. Working with Turner, I get to extend my relationship with Chevrolet and continue to have Hendrick horsepower under the hood, which is really, really good."
